My Glittery Church

Shannon from Fox Hollow Cottage has written a very fun holiday post where she shows us how to spruce up our homes in a thrifty way. She transformed a little church she found at a thrift store by adding paint and glitter to it. After I saw it, I immediately ran out to the Goodwill store and was fortunate to find a church too!

Here are the directions she gave for glittering up her church. Wash with warm soapy water and allow to dry overnight. Then brush paint with white craft paint and while still wet sprinkle on a ton of glitter. Spray with polyurethane afterwards to seal and make sure the glitter sticks.

Here are before and after photos of my glittery church:

Mine was a music box that didn't sound very good anymore so I took out the mechanism. I put a flameless candle inside. Also, I wasn't sure if I should paint the roses at first, but it was too hard to paint around them so I painted them white too. First I spray painted the flowers a couple times because the white craft paint wouldn't cover the color.

I am just thrilled with my little church.

Thank you Shannon for the inspiration to make this fun holiday project!  See Shannon's blog for more holiday projects! For more of my glitter, click here.

  9. Best post ever! Love seeing your version :) Completely made my day.

It's darling. You found a good church!!!! Perfect fix, the shiny porcelain finish would need spray paint. Or maybe chalk paint to "stick". This is so cute. Off to share it on my fb page :) I just love it!!
