Do you have old neckties lying around? How about putting them on a wreath for Father's Day? I have seen Father's Day wreaths on Pinterest and have been pondering how I wanted to make mine. I decided to wrap the ties around a large flat styrofoam wreath and pin them in place. Styrofoam is great for that. I tried to alternate the stripes with small prints. Here you can see the pins on the back of the wreath.
I had thought about making the bow like the one on the left, but then the idea on the right came to me when I was trying to figure out how to hang the wreath. Dan tied the tie for me. It took him a few tries as he doesn't wear ties much anymore LOL.
It's simple enough to find a way to hang a wreath with wire or a pipe cleaner, but I really like the way the tie makes its own hanger. When I put the pins in, I stuck them upward into the styrofoam so they wouldn't come out when hanging on the hook. I imagine glue could be added to the pins to make them stick better. The wreath is rather light in weight so I figure the pins should hold fine.
It will be fun for Father's Day!
