A Favorite Thing: Today's Hike

One thing I know for sure is that I need exercise every day. It would be so easy for me to stay inside doing things around the house or working on my computer. I am a much happier person when I get out, get some sun and either ride my bike or take a hike. Today a new friend introduced me to a neat place to walk, a place that is very close to where I live in Indiana. It was an exciting new discovery for me.

Once we got going, it was shady most of the way.

Through the trees, we saw others enjoying their time on the river.

This was the prize, arriving at this old covered bridge. I had heard about it before but didn't know where it was located. Now I know how to find it and hope to visit often.

We walked inside the wooden bridge...

and looked out its window at this lovely view.

There are a lot of places to rest along the way.

I looked up above me at the trees and marveled at their beauty.

I have a new friend and a new place to hike! That's double goodness!

  1. Oh, that's a perfect place for a hike! I love walking among the trees. So much green is breathtaking!

I need to exercise daily, too. Alas, I've gotten out of the habit, and it's so hard to start up again.

  2. It is fun to find a new place to walk. I would love to come across a covered bridge.

We just came back from a 15 mile bike ride along the ocean. It was chilly going north, but the wind was behind us on our way home and the sun came out.

I must exercise daily for my mental as well as physical health.

  7. What a pretty place to walk/enjoy your surroundings. By the time the temps go down enough to walk in the evenings here, the mosquitoes are out full force.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  8. Isn't it fun to find a place, new to you, that you'd missed all this time? Your new route looks very inviting - I'd want to visit the bridge again and again.

  10. So beautiful - but I don't know where you are. I looked at your "about" page and can't find a location. Found your pretty blog through Mockingbird Hill Cottage.

  11. What a beautiful place for a hike! I have a state park only a couple of miles from my house and used to walk there all the time. Emphasis on the "used to". Seems I'm always too busy doing things in the house and never get over there anymore. My husband and I do take a mile walk around the neighborhood after dinner most nights though. I need to do a lot more exercising - you are an inspiration!

  12. I live in Indiana also, with a lot of covered bridges around me-some of the most beautiful scenery. Now that the heat has gone down some, I can finally get out and enjoy a little more!

  14. What a lovely trip! I love going under the trees too. I love your collage of the ducks but the covered bridge I'd 'something else! I loved it when we saw them when on trips to the USA. Isn't it lovely to find a new place that you know you will visit over & over & probably take other friends to see?! Joan

  15. What a wonderful trail! There is something special about covered bridges that I just love. It looks like the folks in the river are having a really good time and enjoying their outing, too. I am so glad that you found such a great place to get in some exercise and take in a lot of beauty at the same time. Finding new friends is a blessing, too. How wonderful that you have discovered both!

  16. I admire your tenacity in sticking with an exercise program! Knowing that the great outdoors beacons to you rather than the gym. Or do you hit the gym in the winter? What a fabulous path to have found, along with finding a new friend. Can't beat that combination!
