My Happy List: Exploring New Restaurants

I mentioned recently how we visited Franklin and French Lick, Indiana where I found so many old treasures. On our way to French Lick, we ate at Benjamin's Coffeehouse/Bakeshop in Franklin on the square across from the court house.

I had a yummy cranberry walnut scone and sandwich. We couldn't help but notice they offered pumpkin iced tea. Maybe next time we'll try it. I had too many flavors going as it was...

One of the walls was filled with colorful vintage wreaths for sale.

I was happy to see this one with Blitzen on it as I just purchased one at the Country Living Fair.

Then while in French Lick, we ate ate at the French Lick Winery. I had the Vintage Italian sandwich and oops, I took a bite before I remembered to take a picture! It was delicious!

Old South and Central American origin coffee bags adorn the walls; umbrellas decorated the indoor grapevine arbor.

We also had the opportunity to eat at the Pete Dye Golf Course Club House there at French Lick.

I had no idea retirement would be so much fun!

What's making you happy this week?

  1. :D Your Happy Lists are always so much fun, Patty!!! I love the vintage wreaths!!! Are you going to make one with your little Blitzen? They are so cute!

Pumpkin iced tea? I just bought Shanley some pumpkin pie soda to take back to school with her. She loves all things pumpkin. But those scones are definitely something I'd love.

French Lick sounds like a fun place to visit. You really are enjoying your retirement! :D

  2. Lots of fun "happys"!

I also did not realize how much fun retirement would be.

Today I am teaching at a middle school leadership conference and it seems strange that I have to run off to get dressed and get myself to the conference. I will speak for 3 hours so I guess by the time I get to volleyball practice today that I will have no voice.

  5. I haven't had lunch yet, so this made me very hungry!! :-) I love places with unique/creative decorations.

Pumpkin tea? Maybe not. But I'd love to try that caramel maple apple cider.

  6. Oh, my goodness, Patty! You must have had a wonderful time. I have never been to Indiana before, but I hope to do so some day. Even the names of the places you visited sound intriguing and interesting, especially the town called French Lick(it spurs the imagination). One of the most fun things about traveling to other places is checking out the eating establishments and it looks like you two really found some great ones. Those scones look so good and the sandwich, too. Those wreaths are realIy cute and whimsical! I am so glad you are enjoying retirement. It is one of the good things about "maturing." Enjoy the upcoming weekend!
