Paris in a Cup

What is Paris in a Cup? It's a place you need to go to if you are ever in Orange, California! It's a place where you can drink a soothing cup of tea

 taste delicious sandwiches and sweets,

and shop for macaroons

and other pretty things.

I had the opportunity to visit there while on my trip to Southern California. When I told Carol of Artandsand that I had a day to fill before attending An Affair at Downton, she offered to drive down 90 miles to visit with me! How exciting was that - to meet a blog friend in person! We chose to go to Orange because it has Paris in a Cup as well as an abundance of vintage shopping.

Me & Carol of Artandsand

After our delicious lunch, we shopped at Country Roads Antiques & Gardens.

The Santa Ana winds were in full force. The shop proprietors were talking about how the Santa Ana winds may have kept people at home that day. Some of the first things I saw at Country Roads were these beaded baskets. I was first introduced to them last fall when I was at the Country Living Fair (here). I fell in love with them then and to see them in white was really wonderful. Now that I am home, I wish I had taken that one on the left!

I'm always on the lookout for lace and buttons and I saw several large jars filled with lovely things. I must admit I experienced sticker shock while there but I don't see this kind of special packaging back home in Indiana.

I was intrigued with how the wire was wrapped around this jar. Everything was displayed so lovely there.

Here are some pretty things that will inspire me when I get a chance to sit down and play with my stash.

This is what I purchased at Country Roads - a carnation bouquet. I love how it is assembled and want to use it as a sample so I can make some myself.

We also stopped in a place called Elsewhere Vintage that had loads of

beautiful millinery.

I see vintage cake toppers back home, but none of this gorgeous caliber.

We also saw adorable homes like this one lining the streets when we were searching for a place to park.

Carol bought this cheese spreader for me from Paris in a Cup while we were there as a memento of our lunch.

What a fabulous time I had in Orange. Carol wrote about Paris in a Cup too, here! It was interesting to read her perspective of our time together. Thanks again, Carol, for such a beautiful visit.

Have you had the opportunity to meet a blogger friend in person?

  3. Patty, I am so happy you met a fellow blogger and enjoyed your time together. That tray of goodies is so yummy looking. Oh yes, their prices are much higher than the good old Midwest. ;) That was so kind of Carol to meet you and even give you a gift. Bless her heart,. xoxo,Susie

  4. I love your post and the difference of our photos about what we saw at Cross Roads.

As I was writing the post, it hit me that we really didn't get to take photos of the cute little cottages that surround the main shopping streets.

Now that you are back at home, I look forward to pics of your "affair" at Downton.
