Cavorting Carlsbad Village

In May, Dan and I traveled to Carlsbad, California and explored the beach village.

Check out the beach-inspired advertising.

This has to be the cutest law office I've ever seen.

Criminals BEWARE!

That day we had lunch at 83 degrees.

I enjoyed the color scheme and style of the restaurant.

An assortment of beer taps are strung along the ceiling

 with an interesting light fixture.

We found an antique shop that had some neat things: this cutie-pie paper weight,

a burlap covered dress form displaying brooches,

this ornate little boy framed piece,

a basket made of safety pins, beads and pearls,

Scrabble and other letters mixed to make words,

Bingo markers,

and a rhinestone necklace for the jar.

It was refreshing for me to see new ideas from across the country. I experienced sticker shock as things are more expensive in California. They are probably worth it though as there is a nice twist to their ideas. These are treasures I brought home with me.

Have you been to Carlsbad, California? It is PARADISE there!

  5. I love Carlsbad! I was just there on Tuesday. The prices at the antique stores and some others are really high though. There are some other great shops just down the coast highway that are priced better and some you would absolutely LOVE! I haven't eaten at that restaurant yet. We have a few faves down there and seem to keep going back to those. I'll have to try that one sometime.

  6. Steve's brother used to live in Carlsbad, but we have never done much shopping there. We like to go to the antique shops in Leucadia and Encinitas.

When I saw that basket made from safety pins and beads, I thought it was right up your alley.

And, the glass jar with the rhinestone band reminds me of a glass jar you liked in Orange.
