My Happy List: Green & More

Ashleigh wanted to make lanterns for her back porch so I gave her my green Ball jars.

It made me happy to see her appreciate them so much and have them to entertain her friends.

I have been putting off choosing fabric for our dining room chairs. I had thought about painting the fabric already on them but decided to reupholster with new fabric instead. I'm going to order this.

I painted this little wooden box green and am happy with how it turned out. Hmm...I see a green theme going on here.

After seeing these baby sculptures in two different antique shops

I was inspired to paint this ceramic baby wall hanging that decorated Danny's nursery 30 years ago.

It made me happy to see these items in antique shops: a picture that hung in our home when our children were growing up,

and these things that I grew up with - penguin ice bucket and a Chinese Checkers board. We played Chinese Checkers all of the time when I was little. Did your home have these things too?

I love these displays in the Logan Village Mall, the place where my Patty's Pretty Things are sold: Marilyn Monroe

a dear deer bride,

and beautiful vintage wedding gowns

 of beautiful lace.

Oh, how I'd love to have this lace. But it wasn't for sale.

And finally, I thought I saw a resemblance here that made me laugh. I didn't plan it; it just happened during a shopping trip.

What's on your happy list this week?

  1. Hi Patty, those hanging ball jars for Ashleighs back porch are tooooo sweet! Those vintage wedding gowns are so beautiful, I wanted to reach out and touch them!! You are staying very busy decorating/re-decorating your home as a lot of us girls do....it keeps me sane! Very beautiful dining room and fabric...love the rich colors! and yes, there is a resemblance to the lady you are next too! We never know what we may come upon....they say we all have a twin! Blessings~~~Roxie

  2. I like your green theme going on. We had a Chinese Checkers game growing up too, and that picture was on a calendar a friend gave me a couple of years ago. The deer bride made me laugh, and the chest of drawers made me think of my youngest daughter who is interested in all things Marilyn. Thanks for a fun post!

  4. Oooh! I love how the ball jar lanterns turned out! The pebbles in the bottom are a great touch. And, of course, who could resist those green jars! I have some myself. :-D That fabric you're ordering for your chairs is really pretty! Can't wait to see the transformation. I used to play Chinese checkers a LOT when I was a kid too. I love that game! :-D Have a wonderful weekend!

  13. I had the same picture, and loved it for years, I still have the penguin ice bucket, I think my folks got it for their wedding 61 years ago, and yes, I played chinese checkers and still have a board or 2 at our cabin. I guess I'm antique. So many pretty things…

  14. I am getting back into my favorite blogs after a 10 day vacation. It seems like forever.

The green lanterns you made remind me of some we saw in Orange.
