Where Bloggers Create 2014

I'm so excited to join in on the Where Bloggers Create 2014 link party hosted by Karen Valentine of My Desert Cottage. This has been an annual event where bloggers share their creative spaces. Much inspiration is gained through this lovely event. Come and join me as I share my creative space with you.

I have two areas in the house where I create. This space below is right down the stairs in the lower level. Since our children are grown up, I'm the only one that goes down there. We have other fabulous unfinished areas in the house, but until they get finished, I am very happy here. There is a big screen TV, bar, elyptical machine, bed and bath down there also. When we have guests, I can put the table away to make more room to get around. When I create with friends, I can add another table to this one to make more working space.

I just finished painting this piece last evening! Blog parties and a friend coming to craft with me next month will inspire one to get things accomplished! This was the china cabinet that was in the dining room. It just wasn't working for me there anymore and I wanted to get rid of it. I thought about giving it to Goodwill, but when I started taking the doors off to make it easier to transport, I realized that it would work very well in my creative space!

Here is a before picture of the cabinet.

My Mother recently returned these "Fun Books" to me that I had made and sold to her for five cents when I was little. They were filled with jokes, stories I made up and some stories that I copied from other books! I had a thing for the Presidents of the United States. So that's when my creativity probably started.

I have created many things throughout the years that include knitting, crocheting, stamping, scrapbooking, singing and playing guitar, and the list goes on. On the top area of the china cabinet is a display of things I enjoy making today. They include greeting cards, gift tags, journals and other shapes with my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine. I bought a one-inch button making machine and love to make buttons. I purchased this card rack when a local shop went out of business.

The bottom area of the china cabinet holds bins of vintage supplies just waiting to be made into something beautiful. I want to start making things with lace, ribbon, linens and other embellishments.

This dress form is named after my grandmother, Florence.

Flo is decorated with little things I love.

This bust is Emma (named after my great grandmother) and is adorned with favorite things also.

After I retired last June I attended two art retreats that put me back in touch with my love for vintage things. Emma is wearing necklaces that I made at those two art retreats. I met some incredible artists and made some wonderful friends there.

Maison Blanche paint (color Vanille followed by light brown antique wax) was used to refinish my old furniture. I really love the color as it matches my kitchen cabinets. These pieces of bedroom furniture hold many supplies.

The drawers are full of beautiful vintage things I purchased this past year.

I'll show you some close up shots of what is on the shelves.

This chest of drawers was my first paint job. I learned how easy it was to finish furniture.

I have one vintage wedding cake topper. It was fresh in the box and had never been opened when I purchased it.

I ModPodged this train case after painting it.

Here's another photo of the train case from an earlier post to give you a better view.

I keep my most used tools in this vase.

The other area where I create is up in Dan's office. I have a space there where I print and cut with my computer and Silhouette Cameo.

My creative space is constantly changing. Here are some photos of how it looked not too long ago.

Thanks for visiting with me and many thanks to Karen for hosting! I cannot wait to get ideas from the Where Bloggers Create party! Click on the picture below to see more creative spaces!
