I spent this afternoon making these pretties.
I had been wanting to make them for a long time as they had been on one of my Pinterest boards. I got the idea for this spool tree here where there is a great tutorial. It is best to use new wooden spools as described in the tutorial. I used old wooden spools and they don't hold together as well as the elongated ones in the tutorial would.
I had painted some baby blocks a vanilla color and thought about making them into a tree as well. The spool tree inspired me to make the baby block tree.
I used vintage hat millinery, buttons, and Martha Stewart glitter.
The second block down has a big hole drilled through it so I filled it in with a flower.
It was great fun embellishing it. Can you see that I spelled CHRISTMAS with the blocks?
The baby block tree is mounted on a vintage tin like the spool tree, but instead of painting it, I hot glued a huge flower over it.
The clipboard inspiration was found here. I painted the clipboard and added a few buttons, not as many as in the inspiration photo. Isn't it wonderful to be able to add your own touches to inspirations?
I found these ladies on The Graphics Fairy blog and am crazy over them. I have a hunch they will be used for several future projects.
Did you have a creative Sunday like me?
