French Lick Fix

We recently spent a weekend in French Lick, Indiana, with some friends. At the French Lick Resort there are beautiful rooms, grounds, good food, shopping and a casino. There are two gorgeous places to stay: French Lick Resort and West Baden Springs Hotel. I wrote about our stay last year at West Baden Springs here, so now I will show you some scenes from our stay at the French Lick Resort.

It's a lovely old place that makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. It makes me want to watch the movie Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour over and over again. The rocking chairs on the huge veranda remind me of the Grand Hotel on Macanaw Island where the movie was filmed.

On our way walking along a very long hallway to the casino, I took a good look at the distinguished guests who have stayed at the hotel. I wondered if Tom Jones photo was there and was excited to find him!

We walked around the town which is just down the street from the hotel.

Below is the original full sized Pluto that is on loan in the French Lick West Baden Museum. Pluto was used as an advertisement for the mineral springs located on the grounds of the French Lick Resort. More about Pluto can be found here.

Dan could bear-ly hide his excitement!

French Lick is such a historical place. We try to go there a few times a year because we always have a wonderful time. Have you been to the French Lick Resort in Southern Indiana?

  1. Wow! Who knew you'd find a place like that in Indiana. What a porch! Love little downtowns like that. Looks like an awesome place to visit. Best wishes, Tammy

  2. Patty, I love the hotel at West Baden Springs. I had to lounge on some those adorable chairs. I can imagine what it must have been like in it's hay day. I loved it all.....but the smell of the sulfur from the springs is not to my liking. That's Larry Bird's home town. :):) Blessings, xoxo,Susie
p.s. I still love to hear Tom Jones sing.

  5. The veranda of the hotel is amazing. I have always wanted to live in a house with a huge wrap around porch.
