My Happy List: Creativity

1. My 2015 Etsy banners were put to good use as photo ops to bring in the new year. We took one banner with us for a party at French Lick and another adorned the mantle of my friend, Anita.

2. When I visited my sister's home over the holidays, I saw this Nativity set in her front yard. It took me a minute to realize that it was the one our Dad had made back in the late 1950's when we were kids. I didn't know it was still around and was delighted to see it. She had restored it with new paint.

3. While speaking of my sister, she is a twin and this month the twins turned 50. My brother-in-law held a surprise party for them and I made some things to commemorate their milestone birthday. I cut the words from red vinyl and adhered them to a glass block. After filling it with Hershey kisses, I tied tulle into a big bow around the block.

I also made them some Keep Calm birthday cards.

There was a caricature artist at the birthday party and this is how our drawing turned out.

4. I am always on the lookout for interesting things to do with my vintage buttons. I found this idea to crochet them into a garland here. The garland can be used for many things such as stringing them onto a Christmas tree, as a decoration for a gift, or even to wrap around the lampshade as I did in the photo below.

I have a nice collection of beautiful vintage buttons.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great and happy week!

  5. Patty, you and your husband are a gorgeous couple. I love the photo of you and the caricature too, so cute! The banners are really pretty and the greeting cards are too. I have a trove of buttons and I really like the idea of crocheting them into a garland and I especially like the idea of putting the garland on the lamp. How pretty!
