1. Having a husband who has business in California and a son and family who live there is a good thing - especially during the month of February when it is very cold back in the midwest! I got to travel there while Dan did his business and visit with our family. Our little grandson was just adorable and entertaining! Good times! We stayed a few nights at the Ayres Hotel as it is close to Dan's office. I wrote about this hotel last year here.
My friend Sally, of the blog Sally Annie Magundy, visited me at the hotel and we had lunch in the beautiful Matisse Restaurant and a wonderful visit. She lives in LA and it's so much fun meeting bloggers. Actually, I met Sally last May when we both attended the art retreat, An Affair at Downton. Darn, I didn't get a photo of us.
After a few days in LA, we went down to Carlsbad, just north of San Diego. We have a ritual when we go there. We go to the town square and have lunch at 83 Degrees, then head on over to a few shops. There is an interesting Irish shop with these goodies inside.
Then we go to Olde Ivy Antques. Note that royal blue tulle skirt on the manikin.
Let's take a closer look. Ooh, lala...
This is what I found there, a vintage hat for $14. I thought that it was a steal in California. It would cost more than that back home! Look at all of those millinery flowers for art work. Even though I bought it for my art, I don't know if I can take this one apart. The colors go well with our living space. LOL I've always got decorating on my mind!
It was awesome to be able to wear jean shorts and short sleeves while out west. We saw some people with hats and gloves on - haha! One evening while there, we ate at the Norte Mexican Food restaurant where there was a nice coolness in the air. The front doors were open and patrons were eating outside near heaters. I enjoyed that very much.
2. Getting back to the Irish, I was excited to see that my spoolie was featured on the Graphics Fairy blog this week here. I love this spoolie, I think because she is full of green which is my favorite color. She is sitting on my desk right now as I type.
3. I won this lovely pouch from Sheryl of Sewing After Seven from the Grow Your Blog party. It's coming all the way from Spain and I'm watching the mailbox closely with anticipation!!!
4. I've come a long way with dogs. I'm actually holding my grand dog, Tangerine. I really do love her more and more each time I see her. I don't know if I will ever get used to the licking or dog hair all over my clothes, but we'll see.
Wishing you a happy week ahead!
