New Home Porches

It seems like ages since I've blogged. Well, it has been a few months. That is because we've been in the process of moving, downsizing our home. We built a smaller home with 2 bedrooms. It has a small office for Dan and a loft for me. :) Someday I'll show you my creative loft space when it gets to the presentable stage. For now, though, I can show you our two covered porches.

This morning I was reading some blogs about Fall decorating for outdoor spaces with lanterns, pumpkins and mums. It inspired me to take pictures of my outdoor spaces. I've been promising friends I would take pictures so I thank the bloggers for the nudge.

I'm so excited about the porches. Here is the front porch. The wicker chairs from the previous front porch work great and Dan and I have actually sat in them already a few times.

I've always wanted to make a pumpkin topiary for the front porch. I finally made one. The pumpkins were purchased from a vendor on a street corner. They just sit on top of each other nicely. The  garland came from Hobby Lobby.

I found these two identical planters filled with gorgeous purple mums, cabbage, orange peppers and tall grass at Costco. I've enjoyed watching the mums bloom. I didn't realize when I purchased them how vibrant they would be! I haven't been a Costco shopper for very long and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of these plants.

Here is the side porch. We celebrated Labor Day with our first dinner on the porch with our daughter and son-in-law. I enjoy looking out of the sliding doors at the flowers on the porch.

I found these daisies at Home Depot. I was so surprised when I saw them. I love the color of the pots! I'm not a gardener, but I imagine these should be put in the ground right away. They desperately need water or they shrivel up pretty quickly. Maybe at some point I will get them planted. In the meantime, I will just enjoy the Fall colors.

We really didn't use our former back deck because of the sun exposure. This new place sits the same way as the former house, but since the porch is on the side, we can enjoy this table and chairs more.

I found the lantern at Hobby Lobby, using the 40% off coupon.

I'm so happy to have the new house completed. The former house has still not sold. Please keep fingers crossed for me that it will sell soon!

  1. How pretty both porches look. My Fall mojo has been lost so I don't think I will be doing any decorating. Hoping it will return for Christmas.
Congrats on your new house. xo

  2. Hi Patty, Congrats on your new home. Yes sweetheart, porches are the way to go. I so wish we had made our front porch/deck a 3 season room. LOL. Just a bit of warning for you about the metal urns...well they look metal. Put a dish of some type under them they will rust somewhat and stain your concrete. I loved the topiary. So cute. I am thinking those tall lanterns are the decorating thing these days. Blessings to you and your family, xoxo, Susie
p.s. good luck for the house selling soon

  4. Oh I love your 2 porches! I bet you are already enjoying outside more than your other house! Its funny how a new place makes you experience different things than you did before. Enjoy and I will be visiting next year!♡

  5. Hi! Visiting from Connie's blog! Your flowers are so pretty. Our chairs looks similar to your outdoor chairs but our table is different. We don't use ours much as it is too far from the sliding door. We moved here in January and have downsized to a home without a basement and two bedrooms and a den for hubby. Have a great Sunday! 6. Congratulations, Patty, on your new home. We are in the process of downsizing, too. Our house is sold but won't close until next Spring. Meantime, we have to decide where we are going to go. lol We have some time so that's a good thing. I am kind of dreading the downsizing process but I have been getting rid of things so that is good!

Hope you have a wonderful night- xo Diana
