Dan bought me some markers for the heart-shaped pan I sprayed with chalkboard paint. I had fun playing with them.
They are less messy than using regular chalk and they clean up real nice with water.
Then he tore out a recipe for Triple Berry Crisp from the local newspaper. I figured he would like to have it prepared so I made it for him. It didn't dawn on me until after it had baked that it looked 4th of Julyish with the colors of the berries together. No wonder it was in the paper this week! It's red and blue!
Here's the recipe:
1 1/2 cups fresh blackberries
1 1/2 cups fresh raspberries
1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
4 tablespoons white sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmet
1 1/2 cups butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, gently toss together blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and white sugar; set aside. In a separate large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press half of mixture in the bottom of a 9-inch by 13-inch pan. Cover with berries. Sprinkle remaining crumble mixture over the berries. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until fruit is bubbly and topping is golden brown.
It's delicious!

I love the recipe, but what I'm really glad I stopped in tonight for was to see the heart shaped chalkboard thing and the markers. What kind are they? I would love to try them.
ReplyDeleteI'm pinning that little heart board. Very cute!
Yum, I love anything that involves berries! That's too cute that your husband tore out the recipe for you. That's a hint for sure! :-)
