I spotted these adorable four inch tins filled with rum cakes while we were in the Bahamas this summer. They were a crazy expensive price, as all things are in the Bahamas, but I couldn't resist taking them home with me. After we got home, the rum cakes didn't last very long (they were quite delicious) but I had an ulterior motive for these tins.
I used Krylon Banner Red paint to turn them into holiday packaging.
I decorated them with bits and pieces of recycled trims. I keep any kind of ribbon or package decoration that comes my way.
What a wonderful idea! The decorated lids give such sweet choices as gifts. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday! Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeletePatty,
ReplyDeleteYou sure turned the cans into beautiful gift tins. Hard to believe that it's time to start even thinking about Christmas.
Visiting you from Met Monday!
How cute -- I love the one with the checked ribbon! I doubt that the rum cakes would last very long around here either! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love them! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteRum cake sounds yummy right about now. :) Your tins are very lovely and festive, giving the recipient an impression the gift inside is going to be wonderful!

Wow, this is my first reminder of Christmas. Have not gotten through summer quite yet.
ReplyDeleteHi Patty - after a few weeks away from Blogdom, I'm trying to catch up on posts - can't read all of them, but some, like yours, I'll go back through to read every one I've missed. I love your Christmas packaging idea!
ReplyDeleteCute idea! Those little rum cakes are yummy and yes, very pricey.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed the weekend.
They turned out well.
ReplyDeleteMerle......
These are so bright and festive! I love the decorations you added to them. They're so much prettier than the tins you can buy around holiday time.
ReplyDeletePerfect!!!!! Now I 'm wondering why I haven't thought about spray-painting tins before for holiday packaging?! Love the additional touches you placed up top Patty!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I've been doing some holiday things lately too.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is spray painting these days and I have to get with the program! Great touches Patty! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I am also thinking Christmas!! What program do you use to get the faded watermark over your photos?
ReplyDeleteFirst, how cool you went to the Bahamas. And I think the tins look wonderful in red ~ very festive!! Thank you for visiting my blog as well, I appreciate you comment!

Very good idea. I need to get on it and start planning fall/Christmas activities! But then again, maybe at this point I should focus on making it through the week.
ReplyDeleteHow great to have these prepared ahead of time! Sadly, my plan to do a craft for Christmas each month fell by the wayside somewhere around May...you have been great about keeping up with this!
