I figure if I can just add a few things each year to my Halloween decor I won't get overwhelmed. I want to do it all. But I can't. Here is one thing I put together when I recently found this little framed Halloween piece at an antique store. I tied it onto my Anthropologie inspired wreath and it hangs in the foyer.
I have been eager to make some of the things posted to my Halloween Pinterest boards. I got out my can of black spray paint and went to town.
First, I turned the lids of old food jars black and printed off labels from Google images. After cutting out the images, I sponged the edges with black ink from my card making stash.
Here's my inspiration. I saw The Vintage Farmhouse at the Horton's of Tipton Autumn Market a couple of weeks ago and she had these with her.

Here are some of the graphics for the project that I found in Google images. I thought I would put them here for you in case you want to make them too. It will save you a few minutes of searching for them.
my favorite!! |
My second copy cat: When I saw the black fruit I knew I had to spray some for myself. I purchased the pieces at Michaels and gave them a coat of white primer first, then a few coats of the black paint.
My inspiration came from the all you blog.

And finally, my Boo door decoration. I picked up these big letters at Michaels too. (My kids gave me a Michaels gift card for Mother's Day. I have put it to good use and still even have some credit on it!) The letters were white so they became black and I tied them together with the twill tape I use for ties when I sew my drawstring bags.
My grandson will be visiting next week. I hope he likes this - he's only 5 months old! It's amazing what we want to do for our grandchildren - it's all so new to me, and I like it!
My inspiration came from an Etsy shop.

One more thing I want to show you. Actually, this is a follow up from a former post and is another copy cat - so that makes four copy cats! I shared with you how I wanted to cut out leaf patterns from printed paper.
They're all throughout the house. Yes, that Silhouette Cameo came through for me again!
I also saw them here on this tablescape which is a sneak peek at a post I have planned for you - another post from my Horton's shopping trip.
Here is the Googled image I used to load into the Silhouette Cameo to make the leaves. The leaves can be made into any size you want.
And that's my new fall decor. Hope you enjoyed seeing my copy cat Pinterest projects.

I love the leaves that you made! And thanks for sharing the graphics. I always wondered how to get them on a jar...but dropping them inside is a neat and easy way! Love the black fruit and all of your good ideas! Happy crafting!
ReplyDeleteI love your decorations! Thanks for finding the images! I'm going to add the owl with the hat to my old scary jar collection as well. I used a few of the same images a few years ago, but couldn't remember where I found them. See how the owl jar will add to my collection I made a few years back!

Awesome Patty! I did the fruit spray paint project myself! Will be pinning this for my next year's decor!
ReplyDeleteWow! Great job! You have inspired me to actually stop pinning and get to work. I especially love your scary jars, and also the leaves, and ....! I have pinned them.
ReplyDeleteNot Patty's Pretty Things, dead mans toes (I just love that) and black fruit you have entered the spirit of halloween.

I had not planned to do any Halloween decor this year - just autumn. But, your ideas are so cute that I might have to bend a little.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Happy Halloween with the spider that you added to the wreath. It looks like a fun bit of embroidery and I have been doing a lot of hand sewing lately.
Oh, your copy cats are great! I love the ones in the jars. I think they are my favorite.
