Having a Creative Time

I made little origami dresses out of 8 x 8 and 4 x 4 inch sheets of paper.

I found the inspiration here (a pictorial tutorial) and here (a video tutorial). By adjusting the folds, I made one that looks like it is for a toddler. They can be used as tree ornaments and package decorations in addition to other things. I'm adding the video tutorial here for you. There's a little cartoon at the beginning but keep watching because it's a really good tutorial.

I was low on birthday cards and wanted to make some cut out cards with my Silhouette Cameo. I searched the scrapbook paper aisle of Hobby Lobby and came upon this Be(you)tiful Authentique paper. I love the soft colors in the collection and made a bunch of cards. I recently learned about the different brands of crafting paper. Authentique caught my eye and has a great Pinterest page here that has separate boards of projects for all of the different paper packs they offer.

I've also made dog and cat cards. These images are from The Graphics Fairy blog. I put packages of four together to give as gifts.

Have you seen these pretty Advent calendars on the web?

Well, I wanted to make one and I decided to use Katie's of BOWERPOWER as my inspiration. Her Advent calendar was created from an inspiration by Pottery Barn.

I wanted to make mine quickly since it was already December 2nd when I got started making it. I got out an old beat up bulletin board and made the tags on my Silhouette Cameo. I didn't cover it with the burlap as in the ones pictured above. This was fine for my purposes and it was fun putting it together.

Hope you are enjoying this holiday season doing the things you love to do.

  1. Love your Advent Calendar. I like the idea of using the old bulletin board.

I made mine all in one day - November 30 and got it up just in time. I still have to buy some of the treats to put in the little packages.

I had so much fun making my Advent Calendar that I think I will make one for Valentine's Day too.
