September Art Class

Gosh, September is almost over and I am just getting this month's art class blog post published! I have been very busy getting ready for our daughter's upcoming wedding. I missed posting last month because we were out of town. Well, here is what I have...artist trading cards from my pals for July's lesson which was on watercolor.

This month's artist trading cards were "Fall" themed.

I made a series of oak leaves with acorns cut from vellum paper atop bare branches to share.

Below are our instructor's cards before they were snatched up.

Now here is an update on our circle journals (our themed journals we trade each month to have another member of the group add their art). I found it amazing that my "green themed" page done for me was about green eggs and ham. That's because while I was out of town visiting our son and family, we spent a great deal of time enjoying Dr. Seuss with our 3 year old grandson.

Then for August, my new pages for my green journal included the ones below.

This is the page I made for a member's "water" themed circle journal...

and for a member's "Fairy Tales" circle journal. It was fun researching quotes from Cinderella.

Here are a few photos of other circle journals.

We always work on a project, but this month we had more than one project. This first one was a transfer using Liquitex (a medium that transfers an image onto an object). The tote I made is on the right. It was supposed to be more like the model on the left, but I had problems with the transfer and decided to make the most of it by filling in the photo with a black marker.

We also made these framed pictures. First we went outside and found a tree branch, then inked clouds onto the paper, added sea glass for the bird house and a smooth stone for the bird.

The instructor's on the left; mine on the right.
My finished art projects.

Here we are showing off our work.

And finally, we folded paper to make this fun card.

Here are the papers I chose.

I folded and glued the shape, but still need to embellish it.

Thank you for reading my blogpost today. I hope you are having fun creating too!
