Once Upon A Christmas

I had the pleasure of joining a fabulous art retreat called Once Upon A Christmas.  It was held at the historic Marion Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina.

My friends Becky, Missy and Julie were there too. We have been to other events like this together and were so very excited to be together and a part of it! We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and got settled into our hotel room. Becky and I ventured out a bit and discovered a cookie store across the street from the hotel, called King Street Cookies.

I had never seen so many kinds of cookies. I was told there are 40 varieties of cookies baked there every day.

That evening, we attended a reception in a beautifully decorated meeting room at the Marion Hotel.

There were delicious appetizers,

photo opps,

and a cooking demonstration.

We met again on Friday morning and found this wonderland.

Our tables had a beautiful white tree in the center with an assortment of little gifts, and bags on our chairs filled with more lovely things.

We sat at the Hollies table.

Here is my space.

We created three masterpieces that day. Here is a fluffy swan I made (in progress on the left) and completed on the right.

We made this adorable pink elephant on a box. On the left is my whimsical raffle winning.

And finally, we made this dreamy pink and aqua wall hanging.

On Saturday morning, we took a carriage ride around the city of Charleston. As you can see, it was a beautiful morning.

Becky and I found the Moon Pie General Store. I was excited to find it because it has such significance to our family. Our son grew up loving Moon Pies when we lived in Louisiana and I would often bring them home as a treat for him.

In the back of the store is this darling Moon Pie photo opp.

We strolled around town and also stopped at this Vintage Candy Shop. It was filled with vintage jewelry among other lovelies.

The time flew by so fast! After planning for 8 months, it was over!

We had a great time creating, shopping, sight-seeing and making new friends. This event really put us in the holiday spirit!
