Library Wine & Cheese Pairing Class

Wait! A wine and cheese pairing class at the library? Yes, you read that correctly! That's what I attended a couple of weeks ago. A local wine shop spokeswoman taught us about wine while we sipped 6 different wines and snacked on cheese, crackers and other appetizers.

We started with 3 white wines: Champagne, Reisling and Chardonnay and followed with 3 reds: Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. My favorite was the Reisling. The main idea I took home with me was that you can drink whatever type of wine you like with whatever food you are eating.

We went through many cups.

Look at this nice spread of snacks for about 50 attendees.

After the tasting class, we were invited to make a wine bottle craft. There were different colored painted wine bottles at each seat. I chose the place with 3 charcoal colored bottles. Included were a small quartz cutting board and a bag with ribbon and a little flower to decorate the bottles however we wanted. The instructor also provided little plastic bumpers to protect the quartz from scratching the table top.

I put my pieces together after I got home.

Another enjoyable evening at the library. We are very fortunate to have so many exciting classes each month.

  1. Patty how fun it this. I love your finished wine bottles too. What a great night.

  2. So interesting! I'm going to have to check out our library's schedule. Your bottles look great - simple and elegant.

  3. I've never needed much of an excuse to go to the library, but I think I might RUN there for a wine pairings class!!! And I love the wine bottle crafts. Very neat!

  4. This sounds like it was a wonderful event. Your decorated wine bottles with burlap are gorgeous!
