After perusing Pinterest for awhile and pinning ideas to my boards I realized I was pinning from blogs written by people like you and me. I had never paid any attention to blogs before that but through Pinterest I discovered a whole new world as many of you probably had too! I thought to myself that I have ideas to share too so why not start a blog myself! Thus Patty's Pretty Things was launched in January of 2012.

Years ago when my children were small and I was selling my wares at craft shows, a dear friend gave me the name that I use for my blog.

I have always been a creative person. I can remember when I was in grade school, the teacher would have me sit at the back of the class to create cards for the priest for special days while the class had to quietly read or do something else. I have taught myself to do many things through books such as crochet and knitting and playing the guitar and keyboard. My mother taught me how to sew and I made my wedding gown as well as gowns for the attendants in my wedding while I was finishing up nursing school! I have also enjoyed scrapbooking, card and jewelry making, and now want to learn about mixed media and how to chalk paint furniture. I learned how to blog through Internet research. Having a blog provides a great creative outlet for me.

I wanted to go to college for art, but my mother encouraged me to be a nurse. I am grateful for that because I have had a wonderful nursing career, the first half working in hospitals throughout the country and finishing up the second half as a school nurse working with all grade levels of students. I have retired from nursing now and can devote my time to being creative.

For my cast of characters on my blog, my family has given me permission to use their names. My husband, Dan, is a golfer, spoils me rotten and is my Editor-in-Chief. We are empty nesters now. Our children, Danny and Ashleigh, have brought us joy beyond belief. Danny has always been into sports and is a terrific salesman. Ashleigh is my artist/musician who is constantly creating something, just like me! We have had some recent new additions to our family. Natasha is Danny's beautiful wife. Also, Danny and Natasha have blessed us with Jackson, our first grandchild (also known as Jax or JackMan).

Thank you for visiting me. I sure do enjoy being a part of the family of bloggers. I have made many wonderful friends since I started Patty's Pretty Things and look forward to making many more!
