Trophies

I've had the flu this week. As soon as the baby shower was over on Sunday, I plopped into bed and didn't get up until Thursday. Well, actually I traveled from the bed to the couch for a change of scenery and to catch up on some DVR'd shows. I did receive the flu vaccine but I must have either picked up a virus not included in this year's influenza formula or the protection I had from my shot had worn off.

While I have been sick, I have been on the computer periodically. If you have noticed the changing of my blog header and background repeatedly, you aren't going crazy. I am the crazy one, trying to find myself LOL. I get bored easily and I figure even if I had someone professionally create my blog I would tire of it. I need to learn for myself so I can change things when I so desire. I plan to really study blogging this summer. In the meantime, you may continue to see a different blog header here every day - LOL again.

Anyway, my condition is improving and I am now able to do something crafty while I continue to recuperate. I've been checking my Pinterest Things To Make board to try and decide what I want to do next. I have been intrigued by the spraying of childhood trophies although spray paint may not be the best thing for me to inhale right now while I cough up gunk (a nice nurse term).

When Danny was in town last weekend, I asked him if I could paint some of his old trophies to display on the basement bar. He didn't care - yea!

So I pulled out the trophy box from his storage area in the basement to take a look. I loved exploring the various shapes and sizes while reminiscing about what they stood for. How interesting, I thought, to be doing this while he is expecting his first child, a son. While realizing how quickly time is flying by, the emotions were almost too much for me.

Here are some I chose to clean up and paint. I'm pondering over what color they should be...

I'll give the color choice some thought for awhile until I am sure and totally recovered from my illness. I'm not sure I want to paint them a few times like I did with my angel in my Angel Transformation post a short while ago LOL. I think maybe I will work on some tags for now.

What are you up to lately? I hope you are well.

  5. Can't wait to see what color you go with. I think I would do bronze, but white would be great as well. Visiting from favorite 24, and hope you can stop by the enchanted oven to say hi!

  8. Hope you are feeling much better today. I got sick the day after taking the shot first week in Nov. - apparently I picked up a virus/bug, but not the flu thank goodness. Sorry - No suggestions on the trophies.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  9. Patty, I hope you feel better soon! I always get the flu vaccine, too, because I have asthma and really do not want the flu! I have been lucky this winter not to even get a cold. (knock on wood)

I love the painted trophies, especially the white ones. I've never seen painted trophies, but it certainly gives them a different look. How creative you are! You make me want to break out my own crafting supplies and get busy! :-)

  12. I am amazed that you can think that well. When I had that "gunk", my head was as foggy as the rest of me. I hope you are feeling much better very soon.

  13. Patty, your blog is looking great. You're are absolutely right in deciding you need to design your blog yourself. It gives you so much more control and allows you to change it up when you're in the mood.

The trophy painting idea is a fantastic. I saw that post on Jennifer's blog. Whatever way you go with the color, I'm sure they will pop!

Thanks so much for joining in this week!
