Summer is great! Ashleigh joined me on a trip to Cincinnati to visit my Mother, SIL and brother. We ate lunch at Bob Evans, shopped at IKEA, bartered at an estate auction, dined at Maury's Tiny Cove and finished up with a visit at Mom's home. Then we hopped in our car and headed back to Indianapolis.
Ashleigh liked this IKEA room. There are no IKEA stores in Indianapolis, so we have to either go to Cincinnati or Chicago to get our fix.
She could be a Price Is Right model. Guess the price of this IKEA room...LOL.
Oh, and an artist's drafting table...she could use a white one, I think!
This is why we came to IKEA, so she could see this platform bed she found online. What's in that big yellow bag, Ashleigh?
I love this white table and wish I could find a place for it in my home.
Owl puppets! Of course, there are owls everywhere!
How cool is this paper roll holder for the artist in you!
I love how they wrapped this frame in fabric.
The tree decal on the nursery wall caught my eye.
I like how they tied fabric on what appears to be clothesline rope.
Next stop was the estate auction. Ash found a large picture frame that was perfect for an art project. She paid $3 for it. I found an old Scrabble game and large glass bowl for $1 each. Our total investment was $5.
Here is the frame and what she did with it. These are self portraits that she drew.
And here's my Scrabble game and bowl.
I took the game for the tiles. I have seen on Pinterest where people frame the words.

Maury's Tiny Cove in Cheviot, Ohio is special to me because it is a place Dan and I dined when we first started dating 36 years ago (gulp).
I remembered the dill pickles on the tables. They are still as delicious as I had remembered them.
I ordered ribs because they were too tempting on the menu. We laughed when they brought them out. They were so meaty, we all could have been fed with this one entree.
There are bulls all around the bar. The story is that the owner is a Taurus and people have collected the bulls for him through the years.
It's been a Cincinnati landmark since 1949.
My how time flies. What memories this place brings back to me!
It was such a fun day! Yea for summer!
Looks like your off to a great start with your big 'R'! Love Ikea too, and being here in southern illinois, the closest one for me is Chicago & Indianapolis ( have to go there someday). Love also the sentimentality of your trip, sweet times are always fun to re-visit over and over again. Thos ribs look yummy by the way, thanks for taking us along!
ReplyDeleteIKEA is always a fun idea and then you added in an estate sale. I don't live near my daughter so any shopping day with her is special.
ReplyDeleteHave fun doing anything you feel like today.
My daughter bought a house on a lake and went there from DC, where she lives. The house was empty...so she went to IKEA and outfitted the whole house from silver ware to big pieces of furniture. She had everything organized and knew just what she wanted. They went through the store with her picking things out and shipped them to her right away. Everything worked out so well...and she now has a furnished house....thanks to IKEA.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great store...wish we had one here.
Your little trip sounds like such fun...and it brought back so many good memories and made new ones.

I love going to IKEA. Even my kids like to go.
ReplyDeleteThe food must have been yummy. I'm licking my lips just looking at it :)
I have never been to an IKEA store. But wow, I need to find one! I had no idea they had all that stuff!
ReplyDeleteI am headed to Ikea this morning to look for a large standing mirror and a bench. I've got ideas rumbling around in my head!!! When you go to Cincinnati do you stop at that fabulous ice cream store? Oh, my gosh... I think it's Blueberry ice cream season! I need to check so I can have some sent to my mother who lives outside of Louisville. What a great time you had and I loved seeing things through your eyes!
