Last evening I attended a craft event at the local library. It was to make this spinning photo cube for Mother's Day. We were told to bring 4 photos that were 3 3/8 inches square. Of course I waited until the last minute to find my photos. So I got out a box of random photos and found 4 oldies but goodies. They seemed to coordinate well together so I decided to give them a try. Also, they were already 3 3/8 inches square. That's the size that photos used to be when I was a kid.
Here I am in the 70s with my little sister 8 years younger than me. Isn't she adorable? |
I should have taken a photo of the cube before I painted it. You can see the corner of it in the picture below. I had removed the baby advertisements that came with it and prepared my paint. There were an assortment of colors from which to choose. I chose a color called sandcastle not even thinking how well it would coordinate with my vintage photos.
I was really pleased with the color combination.
Inside the cube was a cup of candy. The library is so good to us! They even let us keep the leftover paint.
I might eventually put a little knob on top of the lid. Or maybe not. With the knob, people might check to see what is in there! Ha! You never know what I might be hiding inside my photo cube! Or maybe I will add some vintage silk flowers...hmmm.
Let's give her a spin...wheee!
I met some nice ladies while crafting with this photo cube. I think I will enjoy having it on my desk while I work.
My sweet husband is in the photo on the left. We were vacationing in Florida at the time. |
How will you spend Mother's Day? I look forward to spending time with my mother, siblings and children.

That's a fun project and cute all done up with your pictures. I have a ton of those old photos that are that size and they used to come in little booklets, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week---and save me a piece of candy! xo Diana
